Stone Cairn in Darvel Ayrshire.

The Blair Mayne Association in partnership with the Darvel Heritage Improvement Group erected a stone cairn at the Burn Road in Darvel. The monument is in memory of Lt.Col. Blair Mayne and the men of 1st Special Air Service who were stationed in the town during the early months of 1944. This event cemented a firm, and lasting, bond of friendship between the people of Newtownards and Darvel.
