The men of the 5 L.A.A. Battery were involved in the seige of Tobruk in 1941. Axis troops finally broke the seige and Tobruk fell June 20th 1942. Some men managed to evade the Germans but many more were either captured or killed. On that day 5 Light Anti-Aircraft Battery (SR) Royal Artillery ceased to exist. But for their bravery they can proudly be called "The Rats of Torbruk" |
